Lower bounds for homoclinic splitting. Some examples. I.

Abstract : The problem of finding lower bounds for the homoclinic splitting of whiskers is discussed in some simple asymptotic models, in which the first non trivial order dominance can be shown to hold. The proof uses the Lindstedt series expansion, relying on field theory techniques for discussing convergence and exhibiting the cancellations which, operating to all perturbative orders, allow a detailed analysis of the asymptotics.
