Breaking of Adiabatic Invariance in Separatrix Crossing

Abstract : The change in the adiabatic invariants associated with orbits that undergo separatrix crossing is studied for a pendulum Hamiltonian, where either the gravitational field direction or the field strength is allowed to be a slowly- varying function of time.
